These photographs were created as a form making activity similar to the Accidental Patterns project. Metal pieces, machine tools and measuring devices were photographed in purposely scattered arrays. Pairs of images were digitally printed one over the other. The objects were combined by chance yielding a wealth of surprising shapes transformed by perforations, cuts and washes of texture and color. The final three images of this series represent a collaboration with chance where the number of objects is drastically limited and a strong horizontal organizing element is introduced. Always at the center of this project was a challenge to search for methods that might allow the photographs to celebrate the qualities of a box of shiny objects from a family history. Photography (2012-2014) of misc metal pieces, machine tools and measuring devices originally from Harry Palmeter’s workshop, Marvin Avenue, Auburn NY.
