WOODSCAPES - James Stokoe's Portfolio

This set of images originates with an obsession with wood and its imbedded potential for visual complexity, resilience and transformation. The photographs document temporary maquettes that take shape in a focused process of selecting, stacking and arranging wooden artifacts such as foundry patterns, wood boxes, or other found wood elements. The compositions are directed toward the modeling of a fictional cityscape where similar aesthetic qualities and often unintended manipulations can create memorable places.
